Collection: CINNABAR & VERMILION

CINNABAR is a beautiful, vermillion red gemstone and ore of mercury. Its name derives from an Eastern Indian phrase meaning "dragon's blood,” alluding to the mineral's vivid red hues. From jewelry to art, this brightly colored gem boasts a multitude of unique uses spanning history.

VERMILION is produced synthetically since the eighth century. Red Cinnabar is the naturally occurring version of VERMILION. In India, Hindu women use vermilion known as sindoor along the hair parting line to signify that they are married. Hindu men often wear the vermilion on their forehead during religious ceremonies. Vermilion also has significance in Taoist culture, where it is regarded as the colour of life and eternity
